I think I've found my new favourite tactic [FM21]
Currently in the post-season break after my (Roy Kent) 2nd season with Villarreal. This tactic is described as a defensive vertical tiki taka with high-tempo pressing. It isn't the most exciting to watch and will anger the board if your club culture demands attacking football.
Last year, we won the Spanish Cup and EURO Cup II (what we know now as the EURO Conference Cup) and finished 2nd in La Liga, albeit by fluke due to some shocking loss of form by traditional contenders Barca and Real; Atletico Madrid won the league.
This year, we retained the Spanish Cup while aiming to go as far as we can in the Champions League. After a rocky start in the league, we went on an unbeaten run starting in October and kept a LOT of clean sheets (29 in the league, 41 in all comps), leading to a surprise title challenge and eventual title win with one game to go.
Things went just as well in the Champions League. We were underdogs from the beginning, as we weren't expected to qualify from the group which included PSG, Hertha BSC and PAOK. Surprisingly, we beat PSG 3-0 on their turf but narrowly loss 2-1 at home, took 4 points total from Hertha and completely trounced PAOK. Wins over LOSC (4-0 aggregate), Juventus (3-0) and Chelsea (2-1) eventually got us to the Final against the mighty Bayern Munich. Weirdly, their manager confessed to a journalist about being nervous even though they were clear favourites while I told my boys to just enjoy the occasion; we ended up winning 6-0.
There's a lot more to this Roy Kent save, but I think I've written enough for now. I'll happily answer any questions that you might have about this tactic or save. Thanks for reading!
